Jimmy Darrell Olds, age 72, of Owenton passed away Monday, January 23, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Born July 1, 1950, in Georgetown, he was the son of the late James "Red" Olds and Imogene Crupper Keith.  He was preceded in death by his son, Jim Bob Olds, and his brother, Jackie Olds. Jimmy Darrell was a member of the Beechwood Assembly of God and retired in 2020, after 40 years of service, from Owen Electric Cooperative. Jimmy loved being Papaw to his grandkids and never missed their sporting events. After retirement, he was content to maintain his homestead, puttering around on his little tractor, and doing whatever Blondie told him.  He was passionate about old cars, UK Basketball, traveling with his friends, and of course, golfing. He was a voracious reader of western novels, who carried his Nook with him everywhere just in case he had time to read a page or two.

It will be hard to turn the page knowing Jimmy Darrell won't be in the next chapter.  He will be deeply missed by his wife of over 49 years, Bobette Walker Olds; his daughter, LaShonda (Mike) Fitzgerald; his grandsons, Austin (Kaylee) Fitzgerald, Ethan Fitzgerald, and Maddix Olds; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved Yorkie, Bella. No day can ever erase you from the memory of time or place in our hearts.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 4 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at Long Ridge Baptist Church, where he married his Blondie 49 1/2 years ago, on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at 1 p.m., with Bro. Everett Hawkins presiding and Bro. Gary Couch assisting. Burial was held at the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions are suggested to Owen County Children's Fund or Long Ridge Baptist Church.
