Grant County Track Senior Night

Calvin Goebel was honored at Grant County track and field senior night on April 21. He is pictured with sister, Lauren Goebel, and his mother, Martha Mauk. Also honored was Audrey Shelton, who was participating at an away meet in Louisville.

Grant County track and field honored seniors Audrey Shelton and Calvin Goebel at the team’s Friday Night Lights meet on April 21.

Shelton could not be present as she was competing in Louisville at Eastern Relays. She is the daughter of Scott and Teri Shelton.

Shelton has been involved in track and field and cross country for four years, competing in the one mile, two mile, and 5k events. Her future plans are to pursue her academic and athletic career at the University of Louisville. She will be majoring in biology and will be running on the school’s cross country and track and field teams.

Calvin Goebel is the son of Martha Mauk. He has competed in track and field for the last two years. His events include the two mile and 4x800m relay runs, and he is a partner athlete in unified events.

Calvin enlisted in the Army National Guard his junior year and did Basic Combat Training over the summer. After graduating, he will go back to complete the rest of his training. He plans on becoming a commissioned officer in the US Army.
